PINK THE MOVIE .... When a girl says NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PINK is a real brave bollywood movie that brings out one of
the most pressing issues of our country. The movie rebukes the Indian mindset
of treating the boys and girls differently and definitely brings a new and corrected
perception to the modern Independent Indian girls . And it clearly imposes the
fact when a girl says NO,it’s a clear NO. You cannot force yourself on her
without her consent, no matter she is a virgin or not. It’s her right to decide
on her desirability and sensuality. Advocate Deepak Sehgal played by
Mr.Bachchan brings out and challenges some rules that the society entrust on an
Independent Single girl.(As per our society,All these makes her a slut or a whore.)
- She shouldn’t laugh and cheerfully talk to a friend.
- She shouldn’t party or have drinks with her friends.
- She shouldn’t bring boys to their homes even if they are just friends.
- She shouldn’t wear jeans,t-shirts or skirts.
- She shouldn’t come home late at night.
The male
antagonist is from a rich and politically influential family and tactically skew the legal issues against the girls. He has done most
of his education outside.Still his perception is that women from well-to-do
families will not drink, they will not party but just attend family gatherings
and he stresses out ‘aisi ladkiyon ke saath toh aisa hi hota hai’.
The movie also curbs with whom our girls are safe. The girls
go out with 3 boys of them one is a school friend of Meenal (Tapsee).A friend
or a confidante whom she might have known for years and would have trusted that
he will never bring her any harm.
Finally Mr.Sehgal helps the girls sue the boys who have
disrupted their normal life. The movie emphasizes a women’s right to own her
sexuality even she is not a virgin. Intercourse should be of mutual consent and
when she is groped or grabbed and is provoked, it is righteous to go to any
extent to protect herself.
The movie sends a strong message to the audience and hope will have some impact(on atleast few ).
